An improved hub for public sport and wellbeing
The vision is that Le Rocquier will be the state of the art public sport and wellbeing hub for the east of the Island. Part of the centre will be available for the delivery of school PE and sport during the day with the rest of the facility available for the whole community. The centre will include a sports hall, health and fitness, gymnastics, 3G pitch, studios and squash. It will also provide space to deliver health outreach and ‘closer to home’ services.
The centre will provide one of two permanent gymnastics facilities which will be a key focus for the development of the sport. The decision about developing a swimming pool at the site will be picked up within a wider strategic review of swimming provision on the island. The 3G pitch will offer a state-of-the-art facility for training and matches for local football teams and a potential development centre for the Jersey FA.
At the start of 2022, our appointed Sport and Leisure consultants: Knight Kavanagh and Page (KKP) began consultations with a wide range of affected stakeholders including; local schools, sports clubs and associations, government officers, Jersey Sport, parish officials and community groups to understand their needs and potential requirements. This information will then be used to inform the scope and design of the new facility
