An improved hub for public sport and wellbeing
The ambition is to create an Island Stadium which serves the needs of both rugby and football. No specific location has been identified to host the stadium and a site options appraisal will be undertaken to identify where to locate it. Realising an Island Stadium will require public/private partnership and it is likely private funding will be required to make this ambition a reality.
The stadium will have a 2,500 capacity, 1,000 of which will be seated. Capacity can be further increased by providing temporary seating behind the goals. There will be new matchday hospitality and conferencing facilities alongside associated kitchens and bar.
Until such times as an island stadium is delivered, Springfield will remain in use within its current format with interim upgrades to ensure it remains ‘fit for purpose’ for Football
